Quick ways to improve your written English for publications in English
Steve Keating
This 1-day English writing course, originally created for HSLU (Lucerne University of Applied Sciences) students and faculty, is designed to make publishing in English easier. It will clarify the standards required to publish. The course can be held in our classrooms in Zurich or at your institute. It is designed for anyone who wants to improve their written English, with a special focus on academic and scientific writing for publication.
Objectives – What you can expect
The practical tips you learn on this course will stand you in good stead for any writing task in English you may undertake in the future. The focus is to ensure you can successfully publish articles and books in English. The course consists of input from the instructor, and a range of hands-on exercises you can complete in groups or individually. You will receive feedback on your work throughout the course.
The course would also be useful for you if you are writing your thesis. Many of the conventions of academic writing apply equally to a thesis or a published article. Many of you will go on to publish in English after you have finished your studies, or to write English in your professional careers. You will find that you can write more quickly in English.
