Which Cambridge certificates can I prepare for?
B2 First (formerly Cambridge First Certificate/ FCE)
B2 level
The B2 First (FCE) is an English qualification at an "independent-user" level. Users at this level can, for example, express their feelings and opinions in writing, understand the key content of complex texts and communicate spontaneously and fluently with native speakers.
The B2 First (FCE) is the most popular Cambridge English exam in Switzerland and is used at a very wide range of schools (upper secondary schools, vocational training centres, high schools, universities, colleges of higher education, technical colleges, etc.). The B2 First (Cambridge First Certificate) is also very well recognised in the business world and is therefore a valuable addition to any CV.
At upper secondary schools and vocational schools the B2 First (FCE) is often taken when starting or leaving school and is thus advantageous in the search for a job or apprenticeship. In many sectors of the business world, the B2 First (Cambridge First Certificate) is the minimum requirement for English language skills.
C1 Advanced (formerly Cambridge Advanced / CAE)
C1 level
The C1 Advanced (CAE) is an English qualification at an "advanced" level. Users at this level can, for example, understand a wide range of demanding texts, express themselves spontaneously and fluently and comprehend implicit meanings, use English effectively and flexibly in social and professional situations, and discuss complex topics in a clear and structured way.
C1 Advanced (CAE) is widely known in Switzerland and is frequently used as a final examination at higher-level schools (high schools, universities, colleges, etc.). It adds value to any CV and is recognised by a wide range of companies in Switzerland as a reliable confirmation of advanced skills in English.
These days, many companies require at least the B2 First as proof of language competence. The C1 Advanced (Cambridge Advanced) gives you the opportunity to stand out from the competition and thus increases your chances of being selected for a job.
C2 Proficiency (formerly Cambridge Proficiency / CPE)
C2 level
The C2 Proficiency (CPE) is an English qualification at a "highly-advanced" level. Users at this level can, for example, easily understand practically everything they read or hear, express themselves spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, and clearly communicate finer nuances of meaning when discussing complex topics.
The C2 Proficiency (CPE) is the highest-level Cambridge qualification and is used at higher-level schools (high schools, universities, teacher training colleges, etc.) as an entrance or final exam. The C2 Proficiency (CPE) provides a solid basis for studying in English or working towards a doctorate. Because of its very high level, the C2 Proficiency (CPE) enables you to stand out prominently from the competition when looking for a job. The C2 Proficiency (Cambridge English Proficiency) is an outstanding achievement for anyone.
